SXEW Hellenic Cuprum Ltd Achieves Zero Carbon Footprint with Solar Park

SXEW Hellenic Cuprum Ltd is reaffirming its pioneering role in the green transition of the copper industry by commissioning a state-of-the-art solar photovoltaic park that provides full renewable energy coverage for its operations.

Since 10 June 2026, the company’s facilities in the Apliki area have been operating with complete energy self-sufficiency, relying exclusively on clean energy. This enables the production of copper with a zero carbon footprint.

The solar park, developed in collaboration with EPL Technology Frontiers Ltd, is a fully licensed and autonomous high-performance energy system. It includes energy storage infrastructure with an initial capacity of 5 MWh, ensuring stable 24-hour operation, while also offering the possibility of future expansion to further increase its production capacity according to operational needs. Its energy performance allows the facility’s energy requirements to be met continuously, eliminating dependence on conventional energy sources.

Combined with hydrometallurgy — an environmentally friendly processing method — the company becomes the first copper production facility worldwide to operate exclusively and autonomously on renewable energy sources, introducing a new model for zero-emission industrial activity.

Through its solar park and sustainability strategy, SXEW Hellenic Cuprum Ltd is emerging as a benchmark for green industry in Cyprus and internationally.
